What is concrete engraving?
Concrete engraving is the process of staining and engraving (cutting, scoring, routing) a pattern into the concrete to create the look of stone, tiles, bricks, etc.
Where can engraved concrete be used?
Nearly all concrete surfaces (interior or exterior) can be stained and engraved.
Can you engrave new concrete?
Absolutely! New or existing concrete surfaces are candidates for this process. Note that new concrete surfaces need approximately 45 days to cure.
What about flaws and cracks in my existing concrete?
We repair and/or minimize cracks with our system; however, keep in mind that with some patterns, flaws and irreregulations in the concrete can add character to the overall look.
How do you color the cement?
Concrete is stained with a color before the engraving process is done. Chemical stains penetrate the concrete surface to create beautiful color tones in existing concrete. Stains are available in a wide selection of colors.
Will the concrete and colors chip or fade?
The surface will be as durable as untreated concrete. The colors may change due to long-term exposure to the sun. In some cases, colors actually look better with age. We seal all surfaces which prolongs the life of the stain.
How thick is the application?
Unlike other treatments, there is a no additional thickness with this process. The pattern is engraved into the existing surface.
How deep are engraving cuts?
The cuts simulate a grout line and range from 1/16" to 1/8" deep.
How long will the engraving last?
That is the beauty of engraving. It is "in" the existing concrete and will last as long as any concrete.
What about maintenance?
This surface is low maintenance. We recommend resealing the surface every few years. Oil spills are easily cleaned.
How long does it take?
Typical jobs take up to a week depending on the complexity of design and stain, as well as the size of the area, amount of cleaning required, number of repairs to be made, and weather.
What pattern And color choices do you offer?
Our installers do not use pre-set templates for patterns. This gives us full flexibility to create any pattern that you may desire. Much like the flexibility with our patterns, color choices are also unlimited. In most cases, our stains are manufactured on site at the time of installation by our experienced installers to allow us to create any color combination desired. |
